Surroundings

Just 8 km from Monopoli is one of the most beautiful places in Apulia. The harbour town of Polignano a Mare sits picturesquely on 25 m high cliffs. The spectacular location of the old town and the many caves are the main attraction of the place.
Southern of Polignano is Castellana Grotte, a complex of caves characterized by limestone, a sedimentary rock composed largely of calcium carbonate, one of the most important attractions of the region and natural heritage of inestimable value to Italy. From Monopoli it is easy to access to the Valle d'Itria, which is also called the land of Trulli. Among the attractions of this area there are Alberobello, Locorotondo, Fasano, Cisternino, Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica.
